
Space Traders and Raiders
Overview
Fight, build, and mine your way to victory in STAR the turn based strategy game set in a lawless space field where your goal is to surpass your opponents through gaining enough money to win or conquering the opponents in battle.
Duties
I was tasked as a project manager for the team, thus I found most of my work intially being project management and establishing our way of tracking work and making sure that we get work in on time. As the project progressed however I took up more of a game designer role alongside my duties that were already established to better help the realization of the core gameplay loop and round out the fraying ends that we had problems with.
Roadblocks
Though halfway we ran into one very large problem which is something that while was expect the cause was not what I was anticipating. We started to have issues with productivity from member as we solidified more aspects of the game. This stemmed from a myriad reasons that I didn't initially see but realized later was problems with the small group communication. People were not being as heard as they should have been and because of that productivity was hurt and people were hurt. But from seeing this we were able to adapt and over come to create the product we have now.
